The Biology of Personality

Your NEUTYPE Foundation
The Science Behind Our Insights

NeuType analyzes hundreds of genetic markers connected to personality, emotional processing, sensory sensitivity, and behavioral patterns. By combining genomics with personality science, we create a unique map of how your biology shapes the way you experience the world.

Our Methodology

How It Works

01

Parsing & Quality Control

When you upload your raw DNA file (such as from AncestryDNA), our system securely reads the data and standardizes it for analysis. This includes correcting for differences in how DNA strands are reported, ensuring accuracy across all markers.

02

Analyzing Personality Dimensions

Rather than relying on a single gene, we examine multiple genetic variants linked to behavior, cognition, and temperament — grouped into the four core dimensions: Extraversion vs. Introversion, Intuition vs. Sensing, Thinking vs. Feeling, and Judging vs. Perceiving.

03

Weighted Insights

Not all genetic markers carry the same weight. Our algorithm prioritizes high-confidence variants with strong behavioral correlations while still incorporating weaker signals. This weighted approach ensures a more balanced and meaningful output.

04

When DNA Alone Isn't Enough: The Tiebreaker Process

Sometimes your DNA doesn't provide a clear answer — especially if key variants are missing or show mixed signals. When this happens, we don't guess. Instead, we invite you to take a brief Tiebreaker Quiz to clarify traits that couldn't be confidently called through genetics alone.

05

From Genes to Cognitive Functions

Once your personality dimensions are finalized, we map them into a broader framework of Jungian cognitive functions. This helps explain how you process information, make decisions, and relate to the world — not just what type you are.

06

Your Final NeuType

All of this comes together in your four-letter NeuType personality code — a rich, personalized lens into your natural tendencies and deeper psychological wiring.
